Zes jaar na zijn "hit" La Juive, voorspelden zowel Berlioz als Wagner een vergelijkbaar succes voor de opera La Reine de Chypre (1841) van de componist Jacques Fromental Halévy, die ze zelfs als een ander belangrijk meesterwerk beschouwden. Niettemin verdween het stuk mettertijd geheel van het repertoire van de Europese operahuizen. Dit zou opnieuw kunnen veranderen met het oog op de productie bij EDICIONES SINGULARES.
