Hexagon Ensemble

The Hexagon Ensemble’s well-received CD series of The Russian Connection, The French Connection and The German Connection is now continued with their recently-released The British Connection. In this series the ensemble focuses on one particular country and searches for a composer who was not born in that country but who has, however, both lived and worked there or who has been inspired by the country’s predominant musical style. Such a procedure guarantees a CD of works that are both surprising and original: in other words, a CD with a recognisable Hexagon imprint. The Hexagon Ensemble is a piano sextet consisting of five wind players and a pianist. The ensemble has performed many successful concerts since 1991, in venues such as the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Wigmore Hall in London and the Flanders Festival. The Hexagon Ensemble also toured the United States, where they played concerts and initiated masterclasses. The self-willed course pursued by the Hexagon Ensemble is expressed in the programmes they have recorded on CD, which are varied, surprising ánd balanced.
