De top beklimmen

De drie laatste symfonieën van Mozart zijn, net als zijn zogenaamde Haydn-kwartetten, een artistiek antwoord van Mozart op werken van Haydn. In het geval van de symfonieën was de publicatie van de zes Parijse symfonieën van de oudere componist de katalysator voor drie absolute symfonische topwerken van de Weense klassieke periode. Samen met het Orchestre des Champs-Elysées presenteert Philippe Herreweghe hier een grandioze beklimming van de top, die geen schrille tonen of extreme tempi nodig heeft om de aandacht te trekken.
