In de jaren 1730 beproefden veel componisten hun geluk in Londen: Geminiani revolutioneerde de instrumentale muziek met zijn beroemde verhandeling De kunst van het vioolspelen en produceerde een verbazingwekkende versie van La Folia; zijn leerling Avison orkestreerde concerten van Scarlatti, en Porpora waagde zich niet langer aan opera en herontdekte de zingbaarheid van de cello met een van de mooiste concerti van die tijd. Ophélie Gaillard en Pulcinella roepen een poëtische en uitbundige nacht in Londen op. De zangeressen Sandrine Piau en Lucile Richardot laten hun stem horen in werken van Geminiani en Händel.
