Massimiliano Neri, geboren in Bonn uit Veronese ouders, was onder meer koordirigent van het Ospedaletto en organist van de San Marco-kerk in Venetië en kapelmeester van de keurvorst van Keulen in Bonn. Concerto Scirocco presenteert hier een selectie van zijn sonates, variërend van kleine groepen tot meerkorige ensembles, allemaal van een prachtige typisch Venetiaanse weelde. De opname wordt aangevuld met twee motetten. Samen bieden ze een levendig sonisch portret van een zeer gewaardeerde 17e eeuwse componist.
