Lars Vogt (piano/conductor) & Royal Northern Sinfonia

Het staat nu buiten kijf dat Lars Vogt een van de belangrijkste pianisten van zijn generatie is. Hij is momenteel een van de belangrijkste artiesten in Duitsland en Europa, hij is ook zeer invloedrijk en succesvol als pianoleraar, hij leidt zijn eigen muziekfestival met het "Spannungen"-festival, en (misschien is dit in Duitsland nog niet doorgedrongen) hij is ook zeer actief als dirigent, is zelfs de huidige chef-dirigent van de vermaarde Royal Northern Sinfonia in Groot-Brittannië.

Met zijn nieuwe cyclus van de complete pianoconcerten van Beethoven combineert Lars Vogt zijn hartstochtelijk opgebouwde carrières als dirigent en pianist in een van de spannendste Beethovenprojecten van de laatste jaren. Maar dit project is niet opwindend vanwege nieuwe extreme records op het gebied van tempi of dynamiek, zoals men tegenwoordig vaak hoort bij dit repertoire. Dit project is opwindend omdat het opmerkelijk goed is geconcipieerd, doordacht, muzikaal gefraseerd, poëtisch gespeeld, kortom: omdat het past bij de muziek van Beethoven en het werk van de componist niet gedachteloos op zijn kop zet, maar er een eerbetoon aan brengt.
