Elizabeth Poston werkte tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog onder andere voor de BBC, waar ze optrad als gerespecteerd pianiste en later partituren componeerde voor talloze radio- en televisieproducties. Poston, die zichzelf omschreef als een "pettifogger" die nooit grootschalige stukken wilde schrijven, demonstreert haar superieure talent voor het componeren van vocale en koorminiaturen in deze opname, de eerste die exclusief aan haar werk is gewijd.
