Een schitterende line-up voor deze nieuwe opname van Minkowski en Les Musiciens du Louvre.

Mozart was pas 14 jaar oud toen hij Mitridate, re di Ponto componeerde voor uitvoering in Milaan. Ondanks zijn jeugd was het een groot succes: de opera seria troef met een opeenvolging van adembenemende aria's voor de contrasterende rolfiguren. In het middelpunt van het verhaal staat Mitridate zelf - de historische Mitridathus, koning van Pontus, heerser van Grieks-Perzische afkomst, die een geducht tegenstander van het Romeinse Rijk was.

Marc Minkowski dirigeert Les Musiciens du Louvre en zeven virtuoze zangers. Onder hen Michael Spyres in de titelrol van Mitridate. Hij wordt bijgestaan door een ster trio van Franse sopranen in Sabine Devieilhe (Ismene), Julie Fuchs (Aspasia) en Elsa Dresig (Sifare), evenals countertenor Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian (Farnace), mezzo-sopraan Adriana Bignani Lesca (Arbate) en tenor Cyrille Dubois (Marzio).
