Saint-Saens: Sonate & Trio

In 2021 is het 100 jaar geleden dat Camille Saint-Saëns overleed, een van de erkende meesters van de Franse muziek. Pianist Bertrand Chamayou, violist Renaud Capuçon en cellist Edgar Moreau groeten hem met dit album met drie van zijn mooiste kamermuziekwerken: de Vioolsonate nr. 1, Cellosonate nr. 1 en Pianotrio nr. 2. Saint-Saëns’s piano-writing is nothing if not exacting here, but where some interpreters can be overemphatic at the start, Chamayou really does play the opening chords très légerement..It’s a superbly engaging, at times challenging interpretation that ranks among the finest."
