Marin Alsop leidt het London Symphony Orchestra en Koor in een nieuwe opname van Bernsteins losbandige satirische operette 'Candide'. Gemaakt bijna drie decennia na de eigen iconische opname van de componist met het orkest, werd de nieuwe versie van Alsop vastgelegd tijdens feestelijke concerten ter gelegenheid van het honderdjarig bestaan van Bernstein, en bevat een uitstekende reeks solisten, waaronder Leonardo Capalbo (Candide), Jane Archibald (Cunégonde), Anne Sofie von Otter (The Old Lady) en Sir Thomas Allen (Dr Pangloss, Verteller). Met lyrische bijdragen van bijtende schrijvers Richard Wilbur en Dorothy Parker en een jonge Stephen Sondheim, trouwt 'Candide' met rauwe humor met het buitengewone genie van Leonard Bernstein.
