The Osiris Trio’s hallmark is its seasoned craftsmanship resulting from more than 30 years of dedication; it strikes a fine balance between interpretative depth and fresh inspiration in performing the classics from Haydn to Shostakovich. It is also committed to expanding and renewing the trio repertoire, with adventurous programming often including newly commissioned works. On occasion extra artists are invited in order to perform larger scale chamber works. The trio also targets new, young audiences, presenting its repertoire to children in the form of intriguing theatrical productions. The trio has performed on five continents, including tours of the United States and Canada, concerts throughout Europe and, most recently, an extensive tour of China. On two occasions it was invited to accompany the Dutch Queen on an official state visit. Its extensive disco-graphy spans two centuries of trio repertoire, including highly acclaimed recordings of both classics and commissioned new works.

The ensemble is a regular guest at the Dutch Orlando Festival, where it performs and coaches chamber music every year. The players share a strong sense of mission to pass on their refined craft to a new generation of musicians. They all hold teaching positions at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. They also jointly teach a specialized piano trio Master’s degree program at the conservatoires of The Hague and Amsterdam. The Osiris Trio is regularly invited to give master classes at various conservatoires abroad.

"Het pianotrio kent een lange en rijke traditie die, zo toont het Osiris Trio, nog volop in ontwikkeling is. Het oudste stuk op deze cd komt namelijk uit 2013: Akhnaton van Oene van Geel. De andere werken dateren uit hetzelfde decennium: Cinq ou six Bagatelles Brillantes (2014) van Bob Zimmerman; Azulejos (2015) van Diderik Wagenaar; en All That We Love Is Bound For The Past (2014) van Klaas de Vries. Van Geel put in Akhnaton inspiratie uit verschillende soorten muziek. Achter de klank van het trio schemeren invloeden uit de metal, Bulgaarse folklore en Frans impressionisme, en van de Britse band Radiohead door. Van Geel slaagt er in om ogenschijnlijk aparte werelden met elkaar te verbinden in een spannend stuk. De Vries schrijft naast het trio ook een zangeres voor, in dit geval zijn vrouw Gerrie de Vries. Hij gebruikt achttien tweeregelige teksten van David Mitchell, die ook het libretto schreef voor zijn opera Wake. Stuk voor stuk zijn het prachtige kleine gestes die elk een eigen idee uitwerken. Als geheel ontstaat er een surrealistisch narratief. Een soort mini-opera waarin, zoals De Vries het zelf omschrijft, ‘een glimp wordt opgevangen van de karakters en de handeling’."
