Dit deel van de complete opnamen zal zeker een bijzondere waardering genieten, want zelfs afgezien van de oorwurm "Elise" zijn Beethovens bagatellen ook vandaag nog zeer populair. Zij waren van bijzonder belang voor de pianoliteratuur van de 19e eeuw, voor de ontwikkeling van het "karakterstuk". Daaronder bevinden zich vrij omvangrijke stukken die kennelijk oorspronkelijk bedoeld waren als delen van sonates. Maar ook stukken van nauwelijks te overtreffen kortheid van verklaring, zoals de "Allegramente" uit de "Elf neue Bagatellen" op. 119, die slechts 11 seconden duurt. Zijn tijdgenoten waren verward - Beethovens uitgever Peters weigerde op. 119 uit te geven, erop wijzend dat dergelijke "trivialiteiten" beneden de waardigheid van de componist waren. Het levendige, goed uitgebalanceerde, kleurrijke meerkanaals geluidsbeeld brengt de schoonheid van de instrumenten naar voren en biedt ongestoord audiofiel genot.
