Bor Zuljan (lute)

De eerste tonen van het dalende chromatische thema doorbreken de stilte en het lijkt alsof de tijd heeft stilgestaan. De luisteraar wordt meegezogen in de wereld van John Dowland, de grootste luitist van allemaal, op een reis door meerdere schakeringen van melancholie en heldere hoop. Nooit eerder had de luit zo expressief en kleurrijk geklonken als in deze meesterlijke fantasieën, zo dynamisch als in deze sprankelende dansen: renaissanceluitmuziek bereikte hier haar hoogtepunt. Bor Zuljan verkent deze kwaliteiten in zijn debuut solo-opname, waarmee hij de meesterwerken van Dowland nieuw leven inblaast.
