Les Siecles, Francois-Xavier Roth
Op hun reis door Beethovens symfonieën wijden François-Xavier Roth en Les Siècles zich ditmaal aan de Eroica en tonen de volle moderniteit en kracht ervan. De historische instrumenten zijn in staat om de vlakheid en de effecten waar Beethoven naar streefde naar voren te brengen. De ouverture van "Les Amazones", acht jaar later gecomponeerd, zal voor velen een ontdekking zijn. Met deze opera zette Méhul, een Fransman, ook een cesuur in de nieuwe esthetische richting: de Romantiek.
