Tosca is de eerste korte Puccini-cyclus van De Nationale Opera van regisseur Barrie Kosky. Tosca is een melodrama over liefde, verraad en dood dat zich afspeelt in de revolutionaire onrust van 1800. Het verhaal gaat over de operazangeres Floria Tosca die haar minnaar, de schilder Mario Cavaradossi, probeert te redden van de meedogenloze politiechef Scarpia. Doorgecomponeerd en vakkundig georkestreerd bevat het enkele van Puccini's bekendste lyrische aria's en blijft het een van zijn meest uitgevoerde opera's. In deze productie uit 2022 wordt een eminente cast geregisseerd door de veelgeprezen Australische regisseur Barrie Kosky – ‘het Amsterdamse publiek was helemaal weg van Kosky’s verbluffende productie’ (Opera News).
