Gabriel Schwabe (cello) & ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Christopher Ward

Deze twee meesterwerken worden overschaduwd door de gebeurtenissen van de Eerste Wereldoorlog. Elgars Celloconcert, een aangrijpend, bedachtzaam en individueel muzikaal statement, geniet al meer dan 100 jaar een ononderbroken populariteit bij musici en luisteraars. De Oratie (Concerto elegiaco) van Frank Bridge daarentegen bleef na de eerste uitvoering nog decennia lang onuitgevoerd.
