Paul Lewis (piano)

In 2018 ging Paul Lewis op verkenningstocht door een van de meest uiteenlopende groepen werken uit de klassieke periode: de pianosonates van Joseph Haydn. Voor zijn tweede opname heeft de Britse pianist de belangrijkste stukken uit deze omvangrijke verzameling onder handen genomen: bijvoorbeeld de zeer beknopte Sonate in D groot Hob. XVI: 51 met zijn verbluffend romantische trekken (Schubert is niet ver weg!) of de beroemde Sonate in Es groot Hob. XVI: 52, waarmee Haydn voor het eerst een sonate voor piano bijna symfonische dimensies gaf.
