Timothy Ridout presenteert de prachtige altvioolversie van Elgars beroemde Celloconcert. Het arrangement van Lionel Tertis werd niet alleen door Elgar goedgekeurd, hij dirigeerde zelfs de première in 1930. Naast dit diep ontroerende werk biedt de jonge Britse violist een krachtige, poëtische lezing van Blochs al te zelden uitgevoerde Suite voor altviool en orkest, waarin de Zwitsers-Amerikaanse componist zijn fascinatie voor het Oosten uitleefde.
