Weinig 20e-eeuwse componisten waren zo inventief in hun relatie tot de muziekgeschiedenis, populaire en voorouderlijke tradities, als Luciano Berio, die zijn materiaal zowel putte uit Beatles-hits als uit de soundscapes van straten en markten. Mezzosopraan Lucile Richardot en het koor Les Cris de Paris, onder leiding van Geoffroy Jourdain, schetsen een portret van een ontdekkingsreiziger met een passie voor de menselijke stem. Geestig en vulkanisch in "Sequenza III" (geestdriftig vertolkt door Lucile Richardot), lyrisch en teder in "E si fussi pisci", plechtig en meeslepend in "Cries of London". "Berio to Sing" opent de deuren naar een kleurrijk universum, extravagant speels of gewoon: bedwelmend!
