Bijna 40 jaar liggen tussen de Verklärte Nacht en het Vioolconcert - het ene nog beïnvloed door de denkwereld van Brahms en Wagner, het andere puttend uit de schat van dat latere tijdperk waarin Schönberg erin slaagt het basisidee van de twaalftoonsmuziek te combineren met vele nieuwe benaderingen. Isabelle Faust en haar vertrouwde partners traceren dit contrast tussen uitgaande post-romantiek en "klassieke" soberheid met een buitengewone interpretatie van twee van de belangrijkste werken uit het 20e eeuwse repertoire.
