De OPL en Gustavo Gimeno zetten hun veelgeprezen PENTATONE-reeks van componistenportretten voort met een monografie over een nog levende componist, Francisco Coll. In de muziek van Coll versmelten verleden en heden in één ruimte, waarbij een hedendaagse klankwereld wordt gerealiseerd terwijl op creatieve wijze gebruik wordt gemaakt van traditionele vormen en invloeden, of het nu gaat om een klassiek genre (Vioolconcert en de "groteske symfonie" Mural) of om zijn muzikale wortels (Vier Iberische Miniaturen). Het album bevat stukken gecomponeerd tussen 2005 en 2019 en schetst Colls spectaculaire muzikale evolutie, van zijn studies bij Thomas Adès in Londen tot zijn huidige bloei. De weelderige, sensuele aard van zijn orkestwerk komt in deze uitvoeringen volledig tot zijn recht. Naast de nauwe band tussen Coll en dirigent Gimeno, is op deze nieuwe uitgave ook de buitengewone violiste Patricia Kopatchinskaja te horen, voor wie hij verschillende werken schreef, waaronder zijn Vioolconcert, dat hier voor het eerst is opgenomen.
