Deze nieuwe uitgave is het debuutalbum van pianist en dirigent Lars Vogt samen met het Orchestre de chambre de Paris. Vogt trad op 1 juli 2020 in dienst als de nieuwe muziekdirecteur van het orkest. Dit album zet zijn discografie voort van mijlpalen uit de klassieke pianoconcertliteratuur, gedirigeerd vanaf de piano. Eerdere uitgaven omvatten de complete pianoconcerten van Beethoven en Brahms met de Royal Northern Sinfonia. De twee genummerde pianoconcerten van de jonge Felix Mendelssohn zijn werken van grote virtuositeit, briljantheid en poëzie. Daarin wisselen momenten van kalmte en storm elkaar af. Vooral de langzame delen staan bekend om hun grote warmte en schoonheid, niet ver verwijderd van de concerten van Mozart.
