Franz Liszt had een overweldigende invloed op het muzikale leven van zijn tijd door revolutionaire innovaties in harmonie, vorm en pianistische techniek. Zowel Liszt als zijn briljante muzikale erfgenaam Ferruccio Busoni beschouwden hun composities als levende wezens, altijd geschikt om te recyclen en opnieuw vorm te geven om nieuwe werken te creëren. Dit programma is een illustratie van deze praktijk, met Goran Filipec die vrijelijk de cadensen in de Hongaarse fantasie uitbreidt en varieert, terwijl Busoni de emotionele toestanden van horror, groteske komedie en sublieme sereniteit in de Totentanz versterkt.
