Víkingur Olafsson (piano)

Vernieuwend als altijd creëert Víkingur twee muzikale klankwerelden die een breed publiek aanspreken.

Geïnspireerd door een ontmoeting met de iconische Hongaarse componist György Kurtág is dit album een muzikaal antwoord met werken van Kurtág, Bach, Brahms, Mozart, Adès, Schumann, Birgisson en Kaldalons. Het album "From Afar" bevat drie nieuwe arrangementen van de pianist en een wereldpremière opname. Prachtig evocatieve titels en vergeten melodieën vormen een rode draad van verhalen binnen een grotere structuur: natuur, thuis, kindertijd, familie.

De werken werden zowel op de vleugel als op de piano opgenomen.
